Measure the table at the exact mounting point, check that the clamp can contact both surfaces properly and leave room for the crank and growing cake. Table thickness is only one part of compatibility. A bevel, lip or underside apron can block a clamp even when the tabletop is thinner than the advertised maximum opening.
Measure where the clamp will actually sit
Look underneath the edge before choosing a position. Measure the material the clamp must span, including any lip or trim at that point. Check whether an apron or drawer frame prevents the lower contact from reaching the underside.

For another model, look for its published opening or ask the seller to confirm. A product photograph without a scale cannot establish fit. Also check the instructions for any required mounting orientation rather than assuming the tool can be rotated into any convenient position.

Replace a clamp by exact model, not appearance
A replacement clamp for a yarn winder is not automatically universal. Stanwood's current parts catalog separately names table-clamp hardware for the large 10 oz metal model and a locking clamp for YBW-A. Match the model name and part description before ordering; a similar-looking compact winder is not proof of compatibility.
If no exact-model clamp is listed, contact the maker with the model or SKU rather than borrowing hardware from another winder. Do not keep winding with a bent, missing or poorly seated clamp, and do not force a substitute fastener into the mechanism.
Allow for movement, not just the base
Place the winder where the crank can complete its full path without hitting the table, your body or another object. Leave space around the spindle for the cake as it grows. A setup that clears when empty may become crowded during use.
If you have a swift, consider its opened turning area separately. Arrange the equipment so you can watch the supply and reach the winder without leaning across moving parts. For a powered model, route the cable away from the yarn path and controls.
Secure and check before threading
